Radiology Diagnostic
Winnetka Animal Hospital offers a full-range of diagnostic services for cats and dogs. Radiographic (x-ray) imaging is an important tool not only for diagnosing disease but also for monitoring progression or improvement of disease states.
Radiographs are images created when an X-ray passes through an object and creates a unique picture on a specialized film. Radiology can provide a very informative view of an animal’s bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas. X-ray can be used to spot fractured bones or internal injuries, identify heart or lung disease, or locate tumors or foreign objects in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract.
The ability to visualize the heart, lungs, abdominal organs and joints allows for better diagnostic analysis and better patient care. Being able to take and process radiographs on site allows our doctors to detect and monitor conditions such as hip dysplasia and arthritis. Even when animals display absolutely no symptoms of certain diseases, radiology can allow for early detection and more favorable outcomes.
